We aim to be an employer of choice in each of our host communities. This involves operating safely, empowering our employees, treating them in a fair, respectful and open manner, and seeking their input and involvement in a meaningful way at all phases of our operations.
Because of Agnico-Eagle’s rapid growth, we are able to provide our employees with tremendous opportunities for skills development and career advancement, including unique work assignments. For example, during the commissioning of the Kittila mine in Finland, a team of employees from the LaRonde mine assisted in the start-up and training of the new workforce at the site.
We also recognize the importance of honouring the diverse cultures represented at our operations and the value of working with host communities to help them achieve their own objectives. At Meadowbank, we hold cross-cultural training for managers. At Pinos Altos, we help the community run a mechanics school, which trains local people to be engine mechanics and to operate the heavy equipment used at Pinos Altos and other developments in the area.
