Agnico-Eagle is committed to safe production. We consider the health and safety of people working at our sites to be a core value.

We believe that the responsibility for health and safety is shared among all employees, suppliers and contractors on our sites. We also believe that each person has a contribution to make to the health and safety of everyone in the workplace and that such contribution is expected by all.

Agnico-Eagle’s Health and Safety Policy outlines our goals and commitments. 

Our performance speaks to our commitment to health and safety:

• For more than 10 years, the LaRonde mine has been rated among the safest of the many mines in Quebec, with a combined accident frequency index below the provincial mining industry average.
• The Pinos Altos project in Mexico has maintained a high standard of safety performance, including a 0.29 accident frequency rate.
• In 2007, the LaRonde mine rescue team won the prestigious Quebec Mine Rescue competition for the third consecutive year.
