We believe that the responsibility for health and safety is shared among all employees, suppliers and contractors on our sites. We also believe that each person can contribute to the health and safety of everyone else in the workplace and that such contribution is expected by all.

Agnico-Eagle’s Health and Safety Policy outlines our goals and commitments. 

Our performance speaks to our commitment to health and safety:

• For more than 10 years, the LaRonde mine has been rated among the safest of the many mines in Quebec, with a combined accident frequency index below the provincial mining industry average.
• The Pinos Altos project in Mexico has maintained a high standard of safety performance, including a 0.29 accident frequency rate.
• LaRonde achieved 1,000 days without a lost-time injury in 2008.
  
• In 2008, the LaRonde mine rescue team won the prestigious Quebec Mine Rescue competition for the fourth consecutive year.
